SLX EPOXY

SLX sets the performance standard in Epoxy Boards. Boards with the SLX logo are layed up by hand in the traditional wet layup method using Epoxy. An SLX gives you a super lightweight board with quick acceleration and a very responsive feel. These boards are built for high performance and will bring a fresh vision to your surfing! SLX CARBON

SLX Carbon, or SLXC, is our highest performance custom wet epoxy layup. There are several ways for us to control the flex of our surfboards. In depth testing has led us to a limited release of the SLX Carbon Construction. Light and loaded, the SLX Carbon lay up allows us the fastest recoil of any board we build while also bringing the weight of the board down. The tensile modulus of the added carbon on the rail (three times standard glass) make the SLX CARBON layups feel extremely alive and responsive.

We have created a new epoxy construction for SUP. X-1 Natural Epoxy. X-1 is our premium full epoxy sandwich construction utilizing the finest natural composite - Wood. We chose the strongest known technique, the sandwich construction method, and gave a nod to our shaping roots by incorporating the finest veneer into our lay up. We consciously chose not to use materials that will be harmful to the environment and are stoked on the results. X-1 is extremely light and will provide years of durable use and performance. This is what SUP is supposed to feel like - Natural.

We all know the feeling of taking off on a fresh custom board! You can feel the board flex, the glass and wood straining as you power through your bottom turn. Now imagine your new board has that feeling on your first drop, the second week, and still feels that good next summer. With a thin wood veneer sandwich, the X-2 boards have the lively feeling and the durability to remain in your quiver for years. Feel good that the X-2 series was built with wood. It's a step forward for sandwich technology, performance and the environment.

We spend a lot of time at work riding and refining our boards. This year we are really excited about our new X-3 Epoxy Comp lay up designed especially for some of the SUP shapes in our line. The perfect combination of traditional glass flex with loaded up unidirectional fibres give the X-3 boards a classic combination of drive and glide. We have combined traditional epoxy custom wet lay up fibres with select unidirectional glass to create a lively feel that literally springs off the bottom. X-3 strikes the perfect balance between durability and performance.

New surfboards can be expensive and it is hard to choose the right shape the first time you shop for a board. The X-4 Epoxy series is a traditional hand layed up epoxy board built with E glass, Epoxy and an EPS core. Simple and elegant without the added expense. This construction is used exclusively in the NSP program. It focuses on making the surfboard a durable as possible. The EPS core is reinforced with Fiberglass and then a top sheet of Top Sheet is added to enhance the overall strength of the board. All the layers are fused together using a special epoxy resin that helps to create what we think is the most durable performance orientated Surfboard construction available on the market globally right now.

These boards are made with polyurethane foam cores split down the centre line with a wood stringer and layed up by hand with fibreglass cloth and polyester resin. This technology was first developed in the late 1940Ős but has held the attention of the surf community for over 60 years! It is still a part of every pro surfers quiver worldwide.

GSI has created the highest quality EPS foam for our surfboards. Our state of the art equipment and new pre-expansion process that began in 2008 gives us incredible control over our EPS core material. The fusion is so complete that we began calling it NANOWELD. With this amount of control we have no visible voids for air or water to penetrate. NANOWELD EPS is just another reason to take a serious look at how your board is built and why.
